CHICAGO, IL - July 19, 2013 - On Thursday, July 25, 2013, Acts of Love
will kick off its 2nd "Love Young People" Tour that distributes books
to young people in need. In 2012 the tour visited 7 cities across the
country, and distributed over 7,000 books to young people in the poor
communities, and inspired over 1,200 adults to take a pledge to love
young people in their home and community.
This year, the
organizers have decided to focus on 10 communities in need, right here
in Chicago. The 1st stop will be one of Chicago's more troubled
neighborhoods - Englewood.
Next Thursday at 6:30pm at Hamilton Park located 513 W. 72nd St. (72nd & Stewart Ave.), Acts of Love
along with local officials; volunteers from across the city, and
Englewood residents will walk the streets to extend a hand and heart to
young people. Together they will give away 1,000(+) books, distribute
book bags filled with new books, build a reading room in a home, and ask
adults in Englewood to take the Acts of Love Pledge to love young people in their homes and on their block.
"With all of the
unrest here in Chicago, we were moved to concentrate our efforts at home
this year, because home is where the heart is," says William E. Hall,
founder of Acts of Love and Chicago native. "Since
making that decision, we have received overwhelming love and support,
including a donation of 30,000 new books. It's acts of love like that,
which let us know we are doing the right thing."
